I wish to clarify our initial plans for the beginning of the Spring Term following the recent Government announcements re mass testing for Covid 19 in Secondary Schools. As you are aware, the Government has insisted on a staggered start to the spring term to ensure that effective education can continue, at the same time reducing the risk of the spread of the virus as pupils and staff return after Christmas. Therefore, our term will begin on Tuesday 5 January. The 4 January will be an Inset Day to support organisation of the proposed testing for students and staff.
Face-to-Face teaching will commence for Year 11 students, Key Worker/Vulnerable students only from Tuesday 5 January. All other Year group lessons will be facilitated via Google Classroom remotely.
When we receive further information about how we can undertake the mass student testing on site, we will update you. I know that you would not want the Academy to rush in to anything in the new term without ensuring that Health and Safety has been thoroughly considered. We will therefore, await the outcome of further meetings between the DfE and Public Health in the next fortnight before any action is taken.
