Year 10 Parents Evening - Thursday 24 January 2019

About Us Sections

We warmly invite you to attend the Year 10 Parents/Carers teacher consultation evening on Thursday 24th January 2019  from 4.00pm to 7.30pm.

This evening will allow you to meet the individual staff who teach your child, to discuss their progress and ways forward for success.

As you are aware, this year will see your child sit their ‘Year 10 Option A’ GCSE. This is a proper GCSE/BTEC exam that they will take with them to College and beyond.  It is especially important therefore to be making appointments with these staff to discuss what needs to be done for the best possible outcomes (although all subject teachers should be seen where possible)

As a reminder the Option ‘A’ subjects are:

*Art                               *Latin                                     *Btec PE                                *Food Preparation & Nutrition

*Sociology                     *Travel and Tourism                  *Music

The second round of Mock exams (for the Year 10 Option A GCSE in Sociology, Music, Latin and Food Preparation & Nutrition) are scheduled to start on Monday 11th until Wednesday 13th February.  Students will be working to improve on their previous mock grades and therefore should be preparing for these through home study. Please do discuss both the mock exam and the final exam preparation with Option 10A staff.

Art are sitting their 10 hour mock exam on the 15th and 16th January. Btec PE and Travel & Tourism do not have a mock exam.

For your information, this year students who opted for Health & Social Care will also be sitting a mock exam on Wednesday 13th January.

The evening will run from 4pm to 7.30pm and your child will be making appointments on your behalf. Students will be given appointment cards on Monday 14th January.

Please discuss this evening withyour child and the most appropriate time period for appointments so they canorganise appointments with a wide variety of staff.

If you are unable to attend the evening, please contact your child’s Pastoral Manager.

We look forward to seeing you all.

Mr Paul Mendela, Vice Principal
