We are delighted with the Government announcement that students are able to return to the academy from 8 March 2021. We embrace the role that we have been given to support the staggered return “road map” that has been adopted to enable our community to return to normality over the next few months and we understand we are the first stage in this process. In order for us to achieve what we have been asked to do, we will operate a “Testing Centre” for our students over the next two weeks. Vulnerable and Key worker students, who have been in school since January, have embraced the testing and the confidence this has given them.
In order for us to move this strategy forward, getting students back into “Face to Face” learning, we have arranged the following:-
Covid testing will take place for specific year groups on the following days and times.
- Friday 5 March for Years 7 and 8– times will be sent to you next week.
- Sunday 7 March for Years 10 and 11 - times will be sent to you next week
- Monday 8 March for Year 9 from 2pm - times will be sent to you next week
Students will come to school for their test only and return home as soon as the test is completed. Students will be expected to wear full uniform for testing for identification purposes.
Further information, times and Consent Data Protection letter will be provided nearer the time allocation for attendance to the Covid Testing Centre.
Thank you as always for your support and encouragement as it is much appreciated by staff. I assure you that we are doing all we can to get our school back up and running as normal and have not chosen a staggered return over the week because we are committed to launching normal lessons at a pace providing direct teaching that students so need. We are ready and waiting to welcome each Year Group for their Covid testing as indicated above and then school will restart safely.
